Junky Styling - transforming old into new
My mother once told me about a party she had been to wearing a dress that she had whipped up that very day. Such was her inner style radical, she designed a reversible shift dress so that mid-party she could excuse herself, find that elusive 'powder room' and reverse her dress. Ta daa, new look complete. Alas, I have yet to find that sewing gene, or perhaps turn it on. Thus, I was happy to come across Junky Styling, a company who takes old clothes and deconstructs and recuts them in order to produce something new and stylish.

Setup by Annika Sanders and Kerry Seager, following compliments on their 90's clubwear, they are now based out of their shop and in-house production site in Brick Lane, London. I love the idea of their 'Wardrobe Surgery' whereby you take along your own items and discuss with them what you like/dislike. They take said items and ideas and create something new. Tailor made, for you. Lovely. In a world where we must now fit into the obligatory size 12,14,16 etc. its nice to hear of made to measure styling with a heart for your old wardrobe and zero waste.
